It's a Girl!

My Grand-daughter and her husband hosted a 'Gender Party' today to announce what the sonogram indicated.   They received a sealed envelope which they took to The House of Memories and asked them to bake the cake-pink inside if it indicated it would be a girl and blue if a boy.  When the cake was cut today, with family and friends gathered around, everyone found out at the same time.  What a fun way to announce the gender of the expected baby!  (I got to eat that first piece of cake :)

Kym and D. J. found out as the cake was cut, just like everyone else!

The two pictures above were made with a cellphone.

Name the baby

Lots of other goodies and punch

D. J.'s Mom congratulating him.  Behind her are servings of peanuts in napkins folded like a diaper and pinned with a safety pin :)

Kay, the soon to be maternal Grandmother, serving the punch.

There are the sonogram pictures on either side of the cake.
The house was literally FULL of friends and family and I think everyone had a good time!
Now, we can start knitting those cute little pink, girlie things :)

This is absolutely the CUTEST idea, Dorothy! I would love to give a baby shower for a friend or relative that had this idea behind it. What a wonderful way for everyone to get to celebrate the joy of learning about the gender of the new little one, and tentatively welcoming him or her into the world!

I haven't been blogging a lot in the past few months. I hope you will go by my blog and check out my last few posts to learn why. I am back now...with a new camera, too! :-)
