Colors on Monday ~ Green

Visit Jen at Unglazed  to check out what others are posting for GREEN this week for her Mini Meme, COLORS!   Next week it's Blue.   Here are a few of my GREEN things.

At the Mississippi Forestry and Aviation Museum, I was fascinated by this plant with big leaves.

John Deere GREEN is popular out in the country!

The blooms on this SnowBall bush look green before they are fully mature.

It's not easy being GREEN!  Our tiny frog with the big voice!

Dyeing of the Chicago River:

For almost forty years, Chicago has been dyeing its river an "Irish" or emerald shade of green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Contrary to popular belief, it is funded privately, not publicly.

How peaceful it is to get out on the back roads and drive through shady GREEN woods like this!

Today, I'm thankful that God likes GREEN, and made so much of it!

"Whoops!" Photo Challenge

***
Photobucket

Over at Ramblings & Photos,  Ashley Sisk says, "this week's Mama Heart's Photo Challenge is WHOOPS! You know what I'm talking about...we've all done it...where we either didn't know what we were doing with our camera, had the wrong settings, etc...and then we looked at the image and thought, "well, that's kinda cool."   Visit Ashley at Ramblings and Photos to check out other "Whoops" pictures!  Here is my contribution:

This a double exposure I made about 43 years ago when my son, Joe, was in a "Little Mister Eupora" contest.   Of course, this mama was excited when her little boy won the crown!   Joe is number 8 and the little fellows on the right half of the screen are the finalists.  I made that shot and then when Joe won, I forgot to advance the film.  Does anyone remember 'film'?   Then I shot one of him making his walk after he received the 'crown'.   This was just too precious to throw away because it was not perfect!

Today, I'm so thankful for Joe!  All of my regular 'followers' know what I mean.

Juvenile Bluebirds

Late Friday afternoon, four or more of these juvenile bluebirds flew in to enjoy the fresh water I had just put out.  These birds were bedragled and awkward looking.

They took turns drinking from the pan of water.

I caught these two taking a bath.  At one time, there were three of them in the pan of water but I missed getting a picture of them.

Okay put your head under the water and wash it really good!

They splished and splashed the water everywhere!

Now, it's up to the wire to pick and preen.  He's looking for something under his wing.

All clean!  Now, to just shake the water out of these tail feathers!

Today, I'm thankful for little unexpected surprises!

A friend sent this video to me today so I thought I'd share it with you.  I had never heard this song and I'm not familiar with this group.   I keep wanting to call them "The Born Again Gang".   I'm sure their name is a take off on that phrase.  It's a beautiful and very meaning song.

Today, I'm thankful for friends!

COLORS on MONDAY ~ YELLOW

***
Jen is hosting a mini meme called COLORS.  Click on her blog, unglazed  for more information.
Next week's color to be featured is GREEN.   Here are a few of the YELLOW things I found for this Monday.

The Clearwing Sphinx Moth is having a feast on the Yellow Lantana.

We have had an abundance of these big, yellow Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies floating around our yard.

I've just now started seeing these little Sulphur Butterflies as they make their way south.

Brilliant yellow Goldfinch are still coming to check out the thistle seed occasionally.

This is not a new picture, but I just had to post these pretty yellow Lilies we saw at a Mexican Restaurant.

And how about this old yellow bi-plane we saw at the Mississippi Forestry and Aviation Museum.

This past Spring, I found lots of these Yellow Jonquils in my sister's yard.

Today, I'm thankful for Mondays, a time for new beginnings!
