Side Trip

 
Returning home from a trip to West Point via Starkville, MS, we took the road to Oktibbeha County Lake.  For at least a year this lake has been closed due to lack of funding.

 
Now that it has been leased, it is being opened as a water park and....

a KOA campground!

The above picture is a mural (or sign) on the side of the main building.

I know this kids and maybe some of the old folks will have fun on this water slide.

They have added a 'beach' and roped off a swimming area.

I like to photograph these big Herons as they are flying.

I also like all the 'diamonds' sparkling on the water!

Did I mention that I like clouds??? :)

 

We saw this on the way home.

Neat Knot

I saw this on the Internet and thought it was a pretty neat knot.  I guess I need to get a scarf like this and learn to tie this interesting knot! 





 

He's BACK!

After being away from his churches since the last week in July (recovering from heart surgery), Jeep was back yesterday and he brought us a good message titled "Why Bad Things Happen To Good People".  His text was James 1:2-4.

When I went back to the van to get my camera, I couldn't resist making one more picture of the steeple.  Yesterday was a perfect, clear Autumn day!  Not a cloud in the sky!

Jeep made it through the service okay.......

 

with lots of help from his son, Jeff, who led the worship service and sang a special, "One Day at a Time".  This picture is from a different Sunday.  Jeff, who is a Certified Lay Speaker, filled in for Jeep while he was recovering. 

This beautiful Fall arrangement was provided by one of the church members.  The colorful quilt gives it a nice touch!  When her husband asked why she was using those warty gourds on either end, she told him that was to remind us that God loves us, warts and all!

Each 3rd Sunday after Morning Worship, the Baptist from the church across the street, come over and join us for a Pot-Luck fellowship meal.

Enjoy your day!

May you enjoy your day, even if it includes a trip to the doctor or to have some test done, as we did today.  We won't hear from the tests until tomorrow, so we will think positive and enjoy the rest of our day.  We have transferred all Jeep's information from Methodist North Hospital in Memphis to the brand new Methodist Olive Branch Hospital, in MS.  It's so much easier for us to get there!  After the tests, we came south to Oxford and went to the Home Depot Store to pick up a few things, then went to the
El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant for a late lunch. 

Shame on us, but we had to stop at  
 .Baskin Robbins  

on the south side of Oxford, to get ice cream cones ...one dip of Vanilla for Jeep and one dip of Pralines and Cream for me, both in those delicious waffle cones!

Although I had my camera poised and ready to shoot any wildlife that appeared, I made only three pictures!

At first glance, the state flag appears to be flying above Old Glory, but as you see, they are on separate poles.  

We noticed this little cabin by the side of the road was for sale!  They probably couldn't afford the utility bills or maybe, the monthly payments :)

While traveling through Mississippi (and probably other states), you will often see three crosses like these.  The center cross reminds us of the perfect atonement Jesus made available to us by His willing sacrifice.  The  two outside crosses remind us of the two thieves who hung there with Jesus and the choices they made.  
May we think carefully about all the choices we make.
