Rainy Day Birds ~ Wordless Wednesday

 

Today I'm thankful for the rain, even though I complain about it! 

 The ground needs it for the dry days of summer!

Birds of a Different Feather

Mr. and Mrs. Cockateil?  I'm not sure, but I do know that these birds are different from the ones I usually post.  

I made these pictures at our grandson's house on Christmas night.   They look like they have rouge on their cheeks!

I think they are rather comical looking.  I didn't ask if they could talk, but they didn't talk to me.

  These are baby Quail, hatched from eggs and will be raised in a pen.  In fact, Quail, along with several side dishes, is what Wesley and Johanna served that night.  The red color is because of the heat lamp.

 

As you can see this is not a bird, but I wanted to show you this silk Poinsettia with white lights that was in their bedroom.  I think it's beautiful! 

Today I'm thankful for grandchildren!

Scavenger Hunt

Every weekend Ashley at Photos and Ramblings, hosts a Scavenger Hunt.  She gives us the words we are to interpret with pictures, and we take it from there.  Here's mine for this week:

1.  A Different View

This is a Different View from what you usually see when you look at 'my birds'.  She's pretty on the back side, too.

This is a section of a Tiffany Lamp I received for Christmas.  I think it looks like a bit of Abstract Art.

I messed with it a little in Photo Shop.

Children have such shiny, healthy looking Hair.

This is my Better Half, Jeep.  Without him, I would not be whole!

Today (and every day), I'm thankful for Jeep!

Believe it or Not!

 

I think it's pretty unusual to have home grown tomatoes in mid-January!  My sister, Helen, grew these in her garden and just before the first killing frost, she picked a couple of 5 gallon buckets full of green tomatoes and has kept them in her utility room.  At our Christmas day gathering we had a big plate of sliced ripe tomatoes!  They still have that wonderful tomato taste!

Today I'm thankful for my sisters!  Helen celebrated her 80th birthday on January 13th.

Birds Watching the Birdwatcher!

Some days I'm watching the birds...

and some days I feel like they are all watching me!

Today I'm thankful for the beauty of the earth.

What a difference a day makes!

One day the Pansies are blooming happily.....

and the next day, they are covered with snow!

This is the view looking toward the highway from our garage this morning. 

I have been entertained most of the day by watching the birds.

The Pie Warbler is a frequent visitor.

He mostly likes the suet and the bread crumbs.

The Mockingbird thinks he's a treetop ornament.  He is sitting on top of my discarded Christmas tree.

I finally caught two Cardinals together.

I think the Cardinal is one of the prettiest birds that lights up the winter scene.  The Snow caused the birds to flock to the feeders in droves.   To be continued.
