This is the day......

There was a pink glow in the sky this morning.  It made my heart sing, "This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it......!"

A year or so ago I planted a Clematis which I thought was going to have pink and white blooms.  I was surprised to see these light lavender flowers when it bloomed!

I bought this Encore Azalea a few days ago and now I need to find the right place to plant it.

I keep finding things to put in the new sunroom.  This is a vase that my sisters gave me.  The color blends nicely with the patio furniture which I painted a color called Blue Ocean Breeze.

On the floor by the door, are some plants I need to set out soon.  I bought a few tomato plants, pepper plants and squash.  It will be a very small garden :)  The vase, which needs some flowers, is the color of one of the stripes in the cushions.  This is a nice spot for my early morning devotionals.

A few years ago I refinished this old rocker which came from my Daddy and Mama's home.
 Now, I can't decide whether to leave it this natural color or paint it some color (other than blue).
I have been wanting some music in the this room, so Jeep brought this old stereo out and plugged it in.  It will play and record cassettes, CDs, and is also a radio.  Yesterday while my sisters were visiting, we enjoyed a very old cassette (which Jeep thought was lost) of his sister-in-law playing hymns on the piano.

I have been enjoying having a bouquet of Iris from the yard in this corner of the room.

We bought this storage building about the time we married.  Ever since then, Jeep has been wanting a shed over the door and windows so he can leave the windows open for ventilation.

They finished the job last Wednesday.  I think this would be a good place to cook outside!  I also see hanging baskets of flowers and maybe some morning glories climbing those poles:)   Jeep is thinking that a hammock would fit nicely between two of those posts!  He can enjoy that, while I enjoy the bug-free atmosphere of the sunroom;)

 

Up in the storage room, I have this table top which needs a base.  I wonder if I could refinish this old trunk and use it for the base.  I really wanted to use the trunk for storage, but I don't want to have to remove the table top each time I want something out of the storage.  Jeep says we can buy legs for the table.  Any ideas?????

Jeep's Lucky Catch

 

Jeep sits by a window when he's on the computer or talking on the HAM Radio, so he gets to see all the unusual birds as they stop by on their migration route.  The Indigo Bunting is the bluest bird I've ever seen!  This is a shot he made a day or so ago.

Just an ordinary Thursday

Jeep is lucky to have his computer/HAM Radio desk by the window!!  He always gets to make pictures of the birds!  He caught this Blue Grosbeak as it stopped by for a snack, then continued its migration.

Last year I moved over 100 Iris plants to a new location.  They have started blooming and this one is huge!

The sunroom is finished and I have painted one chair that used to be medium gray.  My question is, should I go with this color or get paint that is a little more green?  It is extremely hard to find a certain color you want in spray cans!  Be brutal, tell me what you think!  I can take it :)

Of course, I won't always use these cushions.

The purple and white Iris are blooming, too.

They are all pretty, but not nearly a large as the yellow and white ones.

 

There are lots of Lyre-Leaf Sage blooming in the yard and lots of bumblebees gathering their pollen.

Jeep and I have both been doing little jobs to finish our project and by night, we are tuckered out.

Trip.......

Yesterday started out as a 'ho-hum' trip for a checkup with the doctor, and ended up being a fun day.

We saw many fields like this one, covered with those tiny yellow wildflowers.

There was not much traffic on the Natchez Trace Parkway as we made our way to Tupelo, so we had plenty of time to enjoy the many different shades of green.

Crimson Clover was growing by the roadsides.

Once in a while we would see wild plum trees or dogwood breaking the monotony of green.

Old barns always attract my attention and a click from my camera, even if it's a 'drive-by shooting'.

When we came to the Davis Lake sign, Jeep said he had never been out there, so we drove the 4 miles, which was designated a Scenic Byway.

We did see some pretty countryside, which included nice farm homes, lakes, and the occasional Egret.


We drove across the levee

and saw a good many people fishing.

This couple appeared to be catching a few.

I liked the look of this bridge across the emergency spillway.

These yellow wildflowers were growing along the creeks and low places.

I had been wanting to see them up close, so Jeep stopped and let me get these pictures.

The Dogwood is still blooming.

It's hard to get a picture of the whole Dogwood trees in the woods, but this one was by the roadside.

Instead of going back to the Trace, we drove another 4 miles across to Highway 15.

I spotted this old barn sitting off the road and Jeep turned into a driveway and let me make pictures.

Having been raised on a farm, you might think I would be tired of barns.

I guess I'm just a 'Nature Girl' or 'Country Girl', but I like simple things, like these nice old trees sitting way back off the road.  I can visualize an old home that might have nestled in these great trees.

We are now traveling Highway 9 going south and have just passed Slate Spring.

We stopped to make pictures of the Shetland ponies which are nearly always in this pasture.

It looks like they have cut their mane so it won't hang in their eyes.

I wish there was a regular size horse with them, or something that would let you see how small these horses are.

It's lunch time for this colt.

Nearly back home, we stop at McCain town so I can get a picture of this very old barn.  I like the tree as well as the barn.  As you can see, it doesn't take a lot to entertain me, a pretty day, a drive in the country with my sweetheart and my trusty camera, and I'm happy!  

By the way, Jeep got a good report from the doctor and doesn't have to go back!
