Mellow Yellow Monday

This is my first time to link up with Mellow Yellow Monday.  Click HERE to see more Mellow Yellow posts

This is a Prothonotary Warbler we saw at Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge.

This may be my best full moon shot.

Yellow Cannas

A nice Mellow Yellow bi-plane we saw at a museum in Jackson, MS.

I thought these leaves out along the fence were pretty with the sun shining through them.

A lone waterlily blooms among the rain soaked lily pads.

Asiatic Lilies at a Mexican Restaurant ~ just too pretty to pass up!

Happy Mellow Yellow Monday!

The Last Hummingbird post of this year!!!

I'm fascinated by the Hummingbird!!!  I know you will be glad to know this is my last post about them for this year!  Since this is the first day of Fall, I thought I'd make one more video of them.  I slowed the speed down a notch or two so you would have time to see their action a little better.  In real time, they dart around so fast it's hard to really appreciate their mid-air action.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing these in your yard!

This video is about 2 minutes long.

Bird, Flowers and Izzy the Lizard

"Guess who's coming to Dinner!"

I happened to glance out and see the Hummers shying away from their feeder, and then I saw Izzy trying to get a taste of the nectar.  Next he made his way up the chain and onto the upper part of the porch.

The Autumn Joy is getting pretty and Rose colored.

The bees have been enjoying it, too.

The red rose is blooming more, now that the weather is cooler.

Can you stand a few more pictures of the Hummingbirds?

I'm always trying to get a better shot.

This one shows its beautiful blue/green back side.

Aren't they just the cutest things!!!

Besides the Zinnias, they like the Lantana as well.

So light, they barely bend a petal.

Hummers are really attracted by the color Red!  We have fewer hummers today and I expect they will all be gone by the first of October:-(

Hand-feeding the Hummingbirds

(video at end of post)
Prepare to be amazed!  If you haven't tried this, you should!

Late this afternoon there was lots of activity at the feeders.

I took the feeders down and filled a small container with nectar.

They were so hungry that it didn't take long for one of them to light on the cup. Then I poured about a spoonful into my hand.

Standing on my finger, I could barely feel his weight at all!

Some of them licked my fingers where I had spilled the nectar.

This one gets the idea to drink from my hand.

It was such a thrill to see them so close drinking from my hand!

They emptied the two main feeders today...Twice!

I'm sorry we didn't have better lighting, but it was about sundown.  Jeep had the camera on the tripod in the dining room, shooting through the window.

You could feel the tickle of their little tongue as they eagerly sipped the nectar.

I expect they are getting about ready to migrate south for the winter.

They are not afraid of people as long as you remain still.

They buzzed all around me, almost brushing me with their wings at  times.

I guess I've bored you with so many pictures, but these are just a few of the over a hundred that he made.

I hope your day has been exciting!
