Back in the Swing....

The day after Thanksgiving, we are gradually getting back into the swing of things.

We went for a drive to enjoy the gorgeous weather and just to get out of the house.

We stopped by the Legion Lake and White's Creek Lake to let Jackson play, and we couldn't resist playing a little, too!

I'm so thankful that we still feel like pretending to be kids again!

Mr. J coming down the Tube.

Is this kid cute, or what?

Future Heart-breaker

Jackson and Jennifer

Jackson had fun raising and lowering Paw-Paw's lift chair.

A little rough-housing before bedtime.

Jackson entertaining himself with his iPad.  Jackson and his Mom and Dad will be leaving in the morning and we are really going to miss them,  We only see them a couple of times a year and Jackson is growing up and changing so fast!

I WON! I WON!

Well, I won the runner-up prize on Latane Barton's give-away over at her blog,
Life on Main Street!  Be sure to go by and visit her.  She has written a book, which is in the process of being published!  From the sample I have read, it promises to be very interesting!
My package came today, and it was like getting an early Christmas present!

As you can see, I won a cute tote with a garden theme, some special peanuts from her home town, some Elizabeth Arden 'smell good', a neat little plastic organizer for small items, a billfold and a photo album!!!  Wow!  Thanks a bunch, Latane!  I will think of you as I enjoy using these handy items!

Two Joys

God is SO good!  Not only in the big things in life, but also in the small things.  Since He knows even the number of hairs on my head and watches the Sparrow's fall, I believe He knows all about me and my desires.   For several days I've passed this house on the way to town and marveled at the beauty of these trees.  I have wanted to stop and make a picture of them but there was no place to safely pull off the road.

 .
Well, I think that He knew about my small wish, because He arranged for the garbage truck to be stopped and holding up traffic so I would be in just the right spot, safely stopped in the road to make the picture!

Maybe you think "Pshaw, that's childish thinking!"
I prefer to think that my God knows me and wants me to be happy.  He knew that I would thank Him and praise Him all the way home.  He wants our thanks and praise.

I liked the way the sun lights up the last tree in the row of Bradford Pears.  When I see the glorious colors of the trees, I think about the scripture that says 'the trees of the fields will clap their hands' (in praise).
I think they are clapping now!

The second 'joy' was when my son called and wanted to take me to see the property he bought recently.

We thought these bushes with red leaves might be Huckleberry.  Do you know?

What attracted him to this property is this small lake.

He dreams of doing some clearing and building a house overlooking the lake.

I hope he will give his Mama a key to the gate!

Sunrises and sunsets would be gorgeous reflected in this still water.

There are not many things I enjoy more than exploring!  The sun has set and darkness is creeping in.

This big open pasture is visible from the northwest corner of the property.

Look for small joys in your day!

More Trees

Can you stand to look at more pretty trees?

Coming home from the Post Office, I saw these beautiful Bradford Pear trees.  Since I didn't have my camera with me, I made these with my phone :)

This Maple tree in the church yard has changed so much in the past week!

Check out the many berries on this Holly tree by my church in Eupora.

My son, Joe, sent me this picture from his phone of a little lake on some property he has acquired recently.  I'm eager to go out there and explore this area!
As Mr. Rogers said, "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood."
Get out and enjoy it!

Psalm 34:8
O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in Him.

Sunday pictures

Although Sunday was a dreary, rainy/foggy day, the trees on the Natchez Trace were the most colorful we have seen this year.  Here is some we saw.  Please cut me some slack and remember I'm shooting these through the windshield from a moving vehicle most of the time ;)

Decorations on the church doors

A home with a driveway lined with Bradford Pear trees is next door to the church.

The Pilgrims are still bowing and giving thanks for their blessings.

I made this one as we turn onto the Natchez Trace.

I did not add color saturation to these leaves.  This is just the way they came from the camera!

Even in the misty/rainy drive home, the colors were gorgeous!

For me (and I think Jeep, too), driving the Trace and observing the beauty God was blessed with, is a spiritual experience.

We usually play Gospel music during this drive, which adds to the experience.

I almost felt like we were in the Smoky Mountains!

I hope you are enjoying the beauty of my favorite time of year!
