Light as a feather!

So light she doesn't even bend the petal of the Zinnia!

My heart is pretty light, too, as Jeep seems to be getting stronger each day :)

Remembering Billie

Yesterday we celebrated the life, and mourned the death of my friend, Billie.  We were friends since we started to school in September of 1941.  My older sister took me by the hand and led me over to Billie on that first day of school and told us to play together.  We have been friends ever since.  All through grade school we were inseparable.  Of course, we had other friends, but Billie was special.

Many times we would go home with each other to spend the night or the weekend.  We thought up all kinds of fun things to do.  We roamed the hills and hollows of Peppertown and Bellefontaine, swung on grapevines, swam in creeks, and many other fun things too numerous to mention.

Billie's dear mother was such a fun-loving person.  It was her joy to see us having a good time.  She would do funny things, like jump out to scare us unexpectedly and laugh till she cried.  She let us get in her nice clean kitchen and make a mess with making candy or whatever we wanted.  One thing I remember making was unbaked fruitcake.  You used graham crackers, made crumbs and added tons of goodies and nuts, then packed the mixture back into the graham cracker box.  I also remember eating too much of this rich cake.

In later years, we double dated some.  Married the same year and had our babies fairly close to the same time.   Billie and I were not the type that were in each others house constantly, but we were sure and certain that if there was a need, we knew who to turn to.  We were members of the same church and Sunday school for many, many years.

Billie was a very generous and caring friend.  She will be missed very much, but at the same time, she will always be part of my life, as she will live on in my memories.

Jeep Report

Jeep is getting a little stronger each day.  Yesterday we walked almost halfway down the driveway and back.  Today we walked ALL THE WAY to the road and back!

Jeep is feeling a little better!

Jeep is feeling a little better today. He was cheered up by a visit from grandson, Rev. Wesley Pepper, and Jordan Becker, and later in the afternoon he had a visit from Rev. Cecil Williamson! Wesley and Jordan played the piano and guitar and sang a few song for us. In this first picture, Jeep is joining them in singing "Crazy Arms"

How Nice to be Home!

There were lots of butterflies in the yard yesterday.  This is one of them.

We had a safe trip home on Saturday, August 10th and Jeep is on the slow road to recovery after spending 10 days in the hospital for  double bypass heart surgery.  He was treated extra well in the hospital and was a very good patient.  I made it fine spending a couple of nights in a motel while he was in the ICU.   He was so worried that I would be going back and forth to the motel and about my being alone.  I managed to get around okay in the big city, but would not enjoy living there!  It was not too bad living out of the suitcase and sleeping on the love seat/'bed' in the confines of a hospital room.  But when they started talking about us going home, I got antsy to get there.  We were SO glad to get home!

We May Be Here a Long Time!!

The surgeon came by this afternoon and said we would be here a few more days.  He said he didn't  want to send him home until he was 'perfect'!  I said, "Oh dear, we may be here for a WHILE!";)

This picture was made at a Amateur Radio Ham Fest.

He is really doing well, but considering the distance we live from here, the doctor just wants to be sure he's ready to go home.

Just a month ago today....

Listening to music, holding hands, feet on the dashboard (with the seat reclining, this is very comfortable:) we were happily on the road home after vacation.

Just a month ago today, we were on our way home from a trip to Chicago and Niagara Falls!  A lot has happened in the past month!  We had a good trip and safe travels, but when we got home, we found a lot of lightning damage to our appliances that happened while we were away.  We had to repair and replace several things.  Then, we had appointments with doctors which resulted in Jeep having to have open heart surgery.  They did two by-passes on August 1st.
Everything is looking good except he has some fluid in/or around, his lungs.  Dr. said it may absorb or if the other Dr. thinks differently, he may stick a needle in there and drain it.  I really hope it absorbs!!  Barring anything else, he said we may get to go home tomorrow!!!  He is on a portable heart monitor now and is still on oxygen.  He got a bath, shave, and a bed change this morning.  Yay!  They have just now walked him all the way down the hall!   Hope to be home soon.
Thanks for your prayers, good wishes and notes,

Thanks!

Thank You, Lord, for getting Jeep through his heart surgery and on the road to recovery!
I know there will be ups and downs, but I also know that You will be with us through it all.

Many thanks to everyone who prayed for Jeep and me!  Thanks so much to all the family who were here for his operation!  It really helped and I felt surrounded by Love and Peace!

The picture above was made in the hall of a doctor's office.  The colors have been inverted.

This was made a few days after I told Jeep that I would marry him.

We look pretty happy, don't you think?

We are hoping to have many more happy years together.
