Empty Church

Where are YOU worshiping today?  Don't let your church die like this one we saw on a trip.
Happy Sunday!

Sunday, my favorite day of the week!

Each Sunday we make the hour drive south on the Natchez Trace National Parkway to church.  The drive is often, almost a spiritual experience in itself.  Beauty of God's creation is everywhere if you will just look for it!   Sometimes we play Gospel CDs by Tennesse Ernie Ford, Ricky Van Shelton or Mel Tillis.  Other times we may talk or just enjoy the scenery in silence.  It is amazing to see the many kinds of wildflowers that are blooming by the road.  Early in the Spring, there were fields of  yellow daffodils here and there, like someone had planted a whole hillside.   The next trip there might be blue Lyreleaf Sage mixed with white flowers blooming right by the edge of the road.  Last week we saw purple flowers and this week, there were fields of Black-eyed Susans.

Here are some horses grazing in a field at French Camp

There were many fields of wild Black-eyed Susans.

Jeep spotted these purple flowers....probably wild Pholox.

I saw this wild Butterfly Weed on the way down to church this morning, but didn't stop.

On the way back home, we drove by and missed it again.

I wasn't going to say anything, but Jeep knew I wanted to photograph it, so he turned around and went back so I could get these pictures.  He's so sweet to do that :)

Braving the ticks and snakes, I walked out through knee-high weeds to get these shots!

It was so totally worth it!

Happy Anniversary, Jeep!

Jeep and I married six years ago today.  Jeep started 'claiming' me for his girlfriend when he started  to school at Bellefontaine.  He was six and I was seven.  This relationship lasted until about sixth grade.   We grew up and grew apart and eventually married other people.   We both had long happy first marriages until we both lost our spouses in 2004.   About three years later  a miracle happened!  Jeep gave me a call.

We both firmly beleive that our marriage was made in Heaven, because we think that God put us together.  This picture was made about the time I said "Yes".
We were as happy and excited as teenagers!

At my sister's in May before we were ........

Married on June 9, 2007

Not many couples spend their honeymoon at the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, but we had that odd priviledge.

Thankfully, we did go on a 'real' honeymoon trip a couple of months later.

This was the trip of a lifetime for me!

We enjoyed five wonderful weeks exploring the western states.

About one year after we married, I got to wear my wedding dress again to the wedding of our grandson.

This was made at the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of a couple who were members of Jeep's home church.  Jeep played the piano for this celebration.

This was after the wedding of a young couple at Jeep's home church.

We were freezing cold while watching the Eagles in January!  Jeep was a good sport and let me wrap my scarf around his head and then use my cell phone to make our picture!

This was at a Hamfest (amateur radio) in Jackson.

This is a large plate my daughter-in-law made for me.  She got the hair right...gray for me and a buzz cut for Jeep :)  Also, she got that last line right, (at least, so far :)

Once again, here is a slide show video of our wedding.  That's Jeff and Jennifer, Jeep's children, singing, 'Walk Through this World with Me'.

 Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!
